Chabad of Hewlett inaugurated its first Chanukah in Hewlett with two community-wide events that were as

warm and enlightening as the candles of the menorah themselves.

On December 26, the sixth day of Chanukah, hundreds of Hewlett residents attended the “Chanukah on Ice”

candle-lighting event at Grant Park. For some Hewlett residents it was their first time celebrating the holiday of

Chanukah. Everyone had a great time as they made Chanukah crafts and played dreidel. The crowd was

captivated as the professional ice sculptor, Mark, carved a grand five-foot menorah completely out of ice,

which Rabbi Nochem Tenenboim lit, spreading the warmth of Chanukah to the whole town.
