An Unforgettable Month of High Holidays for the Hewlett Community
The sight of the new building filled with hundreds of young and adult attendees - especially during the shofar blowing, was incredibly heartwarming. For many, it was their first time at our High Holiday services, and everyone enjoyed it!
The Rabbi announced the "Modeh Ani" thank you project. |
The other services, for those who appreciate different styles, were held at SKA in Hewlett Bay Park and in the trailer. They were enjoyed by many as well.
Perhaps the many classes, including Rivkie's Torah & Tea prior to Rosh Hashanah, added to the meaningfulness of the holiday. |

We had two beautiful Tashlich ceremonies, both drawing very nice crowds. The first ceremony took place at Grant Park, where the serene pond added a tranquil backdrop to the event. The second ceremony was held at the picturesque Duck Pond in Hewlett Harbor. The sound of the Shofar echoed throughout the neighborhood, its powerful notes bouncing off the water and reaching far and wide.
In a special appearance, the son of Hamas - Mosab Hassan Yousef shared heartfelt words of encouragement about Israel, creating an atmosphere of unity and hope. |
Our Yom Kippur services were an experience many had never encountered before - truly emotional, powerful and inspiring. The sight of the building filled to its capacity, with everyone praying and singing together, was unforgettable. |
None of us will forget the Rabbi's emotional voice as he encouraged our community to increase our Jewish involvement. The powerful Avinu Malkeinu that everyone sang together and the moving shofar blowing at the end of Yom Kippur brought many to tears.
The useful booklet, the Rabbi's jokes and the special Yizkor service for the 1200 of our brothers and sisters was moving. The exceptional kids' program, and the fact that the children were brought from their program to be part of the main services, ensured everyone was involved and engaged. All of this made the services perfect. Many admitted they enjoyed this Yom Kippur immensely. |
We had an incredible array of events in the Sukkah! Adults enjoyed enriching discussions, lively social gatherings and a sense of community spirit that was truly unmatched. The atmosphere was vibrant and engaging, making each event memorable. |

Hewlett High @ Chabad Sukkot BBQ |
An amazing Hewlett High @ Chabad BBQ in the Sukkah. So many students came to shake the Lulav and Etrog and then enjoyed delicious barbecue with meats donated by Paul & Stacey Aronin and prepared by our grill masters Michael Bouskila, Almog Dahan & Dan Vaknine |
Jewish Kids Club in the Sukkah |
The kids of the Jewish Kids Club of Hewlett had a blast in the Sukkah on Sunday and Tuesday. They enjoyed learning about Sukkot with the Lulav & Etrog and had a fantastic time making crafts.
It was a fun-filled and educational experience for everyone involved! |
We had a wonderful time with mothers and their children, who came together to create beautiful bracelets in support of Israel. The Sukkah was filled with laughter, creativity and the sparkle of beads as everyone crafted unique pieces with love and unity. |
Chabad of Hewlett was filled with families celebrating together. A special Hakafah (circle of dancing) was dedicated by the Hewlett High School students. |
It was a great night with a huge crowd! The Boys Choir from Israel was outstanding .
The NEW Chabad Center for Hewlett was filled with Hewlett High School students and the kids from Jewish Kids Club of Hewlett. It was an exciting evening for everyone! |

October 7th Yahrzeit Memorial |
Thank you to everyone who came together for the first yahrzeit (anniversary of passing) of the victims who perished on the October 7th massacre at Chabad of Hewlett. Congressman Anthony D'Esposito was there with a powerful speech and showed continued support of Israel and our Jewish community.
State Assemblyman Ari Brown and State Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick were also there and she delivered a very emotional speech about the lives lost on October 7th. The Jewish Kids Club of Hewlett concluded the event with a beautiful recitation of the Shema Yisroel. May the souls of our brothers and sisters be remembered. Never Again! |
The 1200 Mitzvah Intiative |
The Rabbi's initiative to encourage 1200 Jews to commit to a continuous mitzvah in memory of those murdered on October 7th reached its goal, largely due to the "Modeh Ani" project. |
The Rabbi urged everyone during the High Holidays services to make a New Year's resolution to recite "Modeh Ani" every morning, recognizing the Almighty G-d to appreciate our lives and gain strength for a happy and successful year. You can join too! |
A very special thank you to our supporters who made all this possible. Much appreciated!
