Are Services at Chabad of Hewlett for me?

Of course!
Our Services are set up in a style that everyone regardless of background or affiliation, be it reform, conservative, orthodox or unaffiliated, should feel welcome to participate and enjoy the High Holiday Services in an environment that is warm, friendly and non-judgmental. Chabad is a place where YOU fit in!

Do I need to become a member to join the Services?

No!
There is no requirement to become a member to join our services, neither do we charge for our seats. However, a donation of $120 per seat is suggested.

What kind of Services do you offer?

Our Main/Interactive services are conducted in both Hebrew and English and the page numbers and instructions are continuously being announced throughout the services which allows everyone to know where we are and what to do. Insights into select prayers are also offered by the rabbi as well as by some members of the community.

Our prayer books have both Hebrew and English as well as transliteration for all the parts of the services that are sung or read in unison allowing everyone the ability to pray in the language they feel most comfortable with in order to participate more easily and feel more at home. Sephardic/Israeli style אווירה ישראלית, נוסח עדות המזרח will take place at Chabad House at 24 Everit Ave with Chazan Erik Yamri and his son. Please  click here to RSVP.

Ashkenazic services WITHOUT English translation or commentary are offered for those who are more comfortable with Hebrew reading. Theses services are at an earlier time, 8 AM, in the large classroom at SKA School in Hewlett Bay Park. Please click here to RSVP.

I have a fear of Services being long and boring? Will the Services at Chabad be the same?

Absolutely not!
Throughout the services the meaning and background of many of the prayers will be presented, as well as many famous Jewish melodies, making our services interactive, entertaining and educational.

What kind of program will you provide for my children?

Your children will be able to participate in a special service of their own run by experienced staff that will include a full children's program. Our loving and engaging counselors will make sure the kids have a great holiday experience, playing and enjoying themselves, letting the parents focus on the inspirational services.

I can’t make it for the entire service, when would be the best time for me to come?

  • On Rosh Hashanah it is very important to hear the sound of the Shofar which will take place on Thursday & Friday, October 3rd & 4th at approx. 12:15pm.
  • The Kol Nidre service on Yom Kippur eve is Friday, October 11th at 7pm and Neila (Final Service) is Saturday, October 12th at 6 pm are both important prayers.
  • The memorial Yizkor service is a very spiritual time for those who have relatives who have departed and that is followed by the rabbi’s sermon (on Saturday, October 12th at 12:30pm).
