“Frozen” had nothing on the Chabad of Hewlett’s annual Hanukkah on Ice at Grant Park in Hewlett on Dec. 26, the fifth night of the eight-day holiday also known as the Festival of Lights. “Frozen” was the theme as characters from the blockbuster movies visited with attendees.

A giant block of ice was carved into a 5-foot menorah. There was ice skating on the park rink, games, raffles, dreidels, hot latkes, candy, crafts, face painting and music.

Hanukkah is commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. An amount an oil, only expected to last one day, burned for eight is the considered miracle.
